Montgomery Martin Contractors LLC has become the first certified commercial contractor through the West Tennessee Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.

The WTCABC's program, launched earlier this year, seeks to recognize those contractors in commercial and industrial construction who have achieved high standards in quality, professional development and training, employee benefits, safety and community involvement.

The application process for certification is "rigorous," said Mike Carpenter, president and CEO of WTCABC.
