Shelby Farms’ $52 million ‘Heart of the Park’ project nears completion

Roughly six weeks from completion, the most ambitious park-improvement project ever conducted in Memphis is taking shape in the middle of 4,500-acre Shelby Farms, near the city's eastern edge. Costing $52 million, the "Heart of the Park" initiative includes the enlargement of Patriot Lake from less than 55 to nearly 80 acres, the planting of nearly 3,000 trees and a fundamental re-imagining of the entire landscape.
